Sculpture Parks & More

Some of the Sculpture Parks I have seen…

Sculpture Parks are good way to enjoy art and nature. I love monumental sculptures located outdoors in vast open lands. My favorite so far has been the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Yorkshire, England. It is UK’s first permanent sculpture park and renowned for modern and contemporary art.  Spread over 500-acre of wide open space, gently undulating hills, lush green landscape.. it provides a majestic setting for the works of great artists Henry Moore, Anthony Caro, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Joan Miro, Isamu Noguchi, Sophie Ryder among many others. Here in the US, I love Frederick Meijer’s Sculpture Park, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with its 132-acre of botanic garden and and outdoor sculptures.  Coming closer home to Chicago, the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park spread over more than 100-acre of prairie landscape on the Governors State University Campus is quite impressive!

All the above mentioned sculpture parks are spread out over large area. But some sculpture parks are small and compact, like the MOMA Sculpture Garden and the Gerald Cantor Sculpture Garden in LA, which has a huge collection of sculpture by Rodin.

In this compilation of Sculpture Parks, I am including some university campuses. I have seen some campuses with very impressive collection of sculptures.. like University of Chicago, UIUC at Urbana Champaign and even university campus in Austin, Texas. Also some gardens like the Chicago Botanic garden with a very impressive collection of sculptures. Some are not famous for sculptures, but I love them anyways.

    Thank you for this site.
May I recommend that you check out the sculpture park built by Anne Huntingdon Hyatt and her husband, about 4 miles south of Mrytle Beach, South Carolina.
Wonderful place, built by a great sculptor.
