Spirit of the Prairie – by David Alan Clark
Dedicated: October 6, 2002.
Location: Schaumburg Town Square
Village of Schaumburg 1% for Art Program.
For more than 100 years Schaumburg was a crossroads community, surrounded by farms, nestled at the intersection of Schaumburg and Roselle Roads. For all that time the business of Schaumburg was agriculture, and early settlers, Schaumburg’s pioneers, worked the land, sowing seeds and harvesting crops. This sculpture constructed of cast bronze, created by Wyoming artist David Alan Clark, as part of village’s 1% for Art Program, depicts an early Schaumburg pioneer couple. Together they serve as a reminder of Schaumburg’s agrarian past where the rhythms of planting and reaping were the measure of everyday life, and where their dream of a better tomorrow became the Schaumburg that you see today!
