Persian Lily Pads – by Dale Chihuly
In 2001 artist Dale Chihuly transformed the Conservatory with his colorful glass sculptures in the exhibition”Chihuly in the Park: A Garden of Glass.” In fact Chihuly’s “Garden Cycle” which began here at the Garfield Park Conservatory, was later exhibited at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, near London, in 2005, and at more than 10 beautiful gardens in the United States.
The “Persian Lily Pads” crafted by Chihuly were purchased by the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance and are now on display in the Aroid House pond.

Among Chihuly’s best-known works are the floral chandelier in the Bellagio hotel-casino in Las Vegas, a 55-foot glass tower at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, and the newly opened Chihuly Bridge of Glass, a 500-foot pedestrian bridge in Chihuly’s native Tacoma, Washington.
