Livonian Wolves at the Leaping Wall – by Ellen Nesvick in association with the Columbia College

 Created in the early 1990s

Update May 16, 2019: The statue was destroyed by the crew doing renovations due to “Internal Miscommunication”.

Location: S wabash Avenue and 11th Street / 72 E 11th St.

While exploring murals in South Wabash, I came across a small park, with unsual sculptures: three wolves against a wall, of which one is reading a book with a raven overlooking its shoulders. Nearby there’s a creepy hooded figure, under a table. And there are some spherical rocks on the ground. Very interesting I thought.

The sculpture was created in the early 1990s by Ellen Nesvick, in association with Columbia College. It’s based on an illustration called “Legends Rustiques,” drawn by Baron Dudevant Jean Francois Maurice Sand in 1858.
