The building is built in the neo-classical style with many features found in ancient Greek and Roman buildings. This style of architecture was famous in the 1800s. Many other state capitol and federal buildings were designed in this style. The capitol building of Virginia, Massachusetts and the nation's capitol in Washington D.C., all have similar features as California State Capitol building.
