Few good reasons why I love alliums:
I love the color – lilac, lavender, mauve and silver.
The flower stalks are sturdy, and do not fall down in wind or rain
After bloom, they make excellent dried flower bouquets
After bloom, the plant just vanishes and does not take up space
They are perennial and keep blooming year after year!!!
What’s not to like!
One of main reasons I love alliums is that even after the bloom is over, they still look beautiful, and make excellent dried bouquet. In fact, after the bloom, cutting of dried flowers is recommended, so that the flower bulb does not put all its energy into making of seeds, but rather save it for recharging the bulb for the next season.
Below is a photo of dried alliums from my backyard garden.
