The Walk of the Stars

 Unveiled: March 28, 2012.

 Location: Bandstand Promenade in Bandra, Mumbai

 It is funded and privately managed by UTV and promoted through their UTV Stars television channel.

Walk of the Stars spans a 2-kilometer, or 1.2-mile, stretch along the Bandra Bandstand Promenade in Mumbai. It features life-size statues of Bollywood legends sitting on benches. It also features the handprints and signatures of Bollywood stars embossed on brass plates on tiles along the path.

It is be easily assumed that the statues and tiles will keep increasing. So have to specify what I saw in my trip in July 2013. The statues were of Yash Chopra [1932-2012], Dev Anand [1923-2011], Shammi Kapoor [1931-2011] and Raj Kapoor [1924-1988]. The tiles included names like Meena Kumari, Guru Dutta, Dev Anand, Nargis Dutta and many more… The video has photos of all the tiles that were already installed during my visit!

The Mumbai “Walk of the Stars” is based on Hollywood “Walk of Fame”. Unlike the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which is administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and maintained by the self-financing Hollywood Historic Trust, the Walk of Stars project is promoted, funded and privately managed by UTV.
